Chats: Reporting Messages

Last edited: October 14, 2026

You can report messages in private DMs, groupchats or Global chat if you believe they violate Vulture's rules. Reports go to Vulture's platform moderators for review.

To report a message:

  1. Select the flag icon beneath it.
  2. Choose the reason that best describes the issue.
  3. Optionally add context in Additional details.
  4. Select Send report.

A confirmation appears once your report is submitted. If several messages need review, report them individually.

Your report includes the message and its attached images, the sender and timestamp, your account as the reporter, and any reason or details you provide.

Reporting an encrypted DM shares a readable copy of that message with moderators. Your browser decrypts it locally before submitting it. This does not share your Chat PIN or private encryption keys, or give moderators access to the rest of your DM history. Groupchats and Global chat are not end-to-end encrypted, so their reports use the original message stored by Vulture.

To verify encrypted DM reports, Vulture uses message franking. When a message is sent, a cryptographic commitment (a value tied to its exact contents) is recorded alongside a protected receipt linking it to the sender and conversation. When it is reported, Vulture checks the submitted content against that record. Attached images are checked against cryptographic fingerprints included in the message. These checks are designed to prevent someone from altering a message or its images and submitting them as authentic evidence against another user.

Reporting does not automatically delete a message or restrict an account. Moderators review the evidence and decide what action is appropriate. Report evidence is stored separately, so deleting the original message does not erase an already-submitted report.
